Climate Services

ICARP technical assistance, decision-support tools, guidance, and other adaptation and resilience resources.

The Climate Services team helps local, regional, and State public agencies; community-based organizations; and tribes in California understand and use climate change information to advance climate adaptation action across the state.

The team develops climate adaptation guidance and tools, helps people use climate change science and data, supports local adaptation planning and projects, and assists California public agencies and other organizations in making climate-resilient decisions and investments.

The Climate Services Help Desk

Anyone can submit a request through the Climate Services Help Desk for assistance in understanding the basics of climate adaptation, developing resilience project concepts, using state tools, data, and science, navigating state funding programs, and any other assistance related to climate adaptation planning. You can request an email response, one-on-one meeting, or a presentation.

The Vulnerable Communities Platform

VCP provides a comprehensive overview of community vulnerability to all major climate hazards, including extreme heat, wildfire, sea level rise, flooding, and drought. The platform is intended to facilitate future adaptation action by identifying areas of increased hazard exposure alongside social vulnerability to pinpoint key challenges that can be addressed with actions to improve resilience. The platform also includes a climate data viewer (insert link when available) that allows you to see the latest climate projections data from CA’s Fifth Climate Change Assessment, comparisons of other equity tools and climate data sources as well as connections to funding opportunities and planning guidance. The VCP is intended to provide support to local governments in fulfilling adaptation planning requirements, community organizations in applying for climate-related grants, and state agencies in prioritizing funding and outreach.

The Adaptation Clearinghouse is a centralized library of information and over 1000 California-specific resources for adapting to climate change. The Clearinghouse resources include toolkits and templates, example plans and projects, curated case studies, scientific studies, tools and data, guidance documents, and more. You can filter resources by climate impact, geographic location, topics of interest, and more.
